Turkey Tail
云芝 · Yún Zhī
Strengthens your immune system from the inside
What it does
Turkey tail mushroom is used to support your immune system and improve digestion. In TCM, it strengthens your spleen, the organ that turns food into usable energy. When your spleen is weak, you feel tired, bloated, and lose your appetite. What makes turkey tail special is its modern track record: a Japanese extract (PSK) has been used alongside cancer therapy since the 1970s.
How to take it
Take a turkey tail mushroom extract in capsule form, typically 1,000–3,000mg daily. Look for extracts standardized to polysaccharide content.

- Talk to your doctor before starting, especially if you take medication
Where it comes from
Turkey tail gets its English name from its colorful, fan-shaped bands. In TCM, its Chinese name means 'cloud mushroom' (Yún Zhī). It's been used in Chinese and Japanese medicine for centuries as an immune tonic. In Japan, a turkey tail extract called PSK was approved as an adjunct cancer therapy in the 1970s and has been used alongside conventional treatment ever since. A clear example of a traditional mushroom entering modern clinical practice.
