Privacy policy

Field Guide is a reference for traditional Chinese medicine botanicals and classical formulas. This page explains what information we collect when you use the product, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We keep this short on purpose. If something isn't covered here, it's because we don't do it.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address and a display name when you sign in. We use a one-time code or an OAuth provider (e.g. Google) — we never see or store your password.
• Your saved stack. The herbs and classical formulas you bookmark, plus any notes you add. This is tied to your account so it follows you across devices.
• Session cookies.A secure cookie set by our auth provider (Supabase) so you stay signed in. We don't use third-party tracking cookies.

How we use it

• To keep you signed in and let you save herbs and formulas.
• To send you occasional product updates relevant to what you've saved (for example, when Field Guide's own version of a formula becomes available). Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To help us understand which content is useful — we track aggregate page views and outbound clicks, never tied to your email address.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to anyone.
• We don't share your email with advertisers or third-party marketers.
• We don't collect health information you haven't given us directly.
• We don't use the saved stack to infer or diagnose anything about your health.

Service providers

Field Guide runs on a small number of trusted services to function: Supabase for authentication and storing your saved stack; Vercel for hosting and delivery. These providers process your data only on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments.

Your choices

• Edit or remove saved items at any time from your stack.
• Delete your account from the Profile page. This permanently removes your email, display name, saved stack, and notes.
• Unsubscribe from any email we send using the link at the bottom of the message.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let signed-in users know by email when the change affects how we use account data.
